Description
"Oceanfront house with 4 suites and 21 meters of waterfront. An incredible property, distinguished by its unique design (single-family residence with a boat garage), has been recognized with several architecture awards. The house measures approximately 190 m2 of built area on a 13,000 m2 plot, with 21 meters facing the water. Featuring 4 suites, all equipped with air conditioning and an emergency diesel generator, this home is located in the Saco do Mamanguá in Paraty, the world's only tropical fjord, offering contact with untouched nature accessible only by boat. The concept behind the design was to divide the house into two distinct volumes: the permanent and solid volume for bedrooms, kitchen, and baths, and the light and airy volume for the boat garage, which also serves as the living room. The first volume, vertical and coated with whitewash, features muxarabi windows that filter light and allow for continuous ventilation. It reflects the region's typical construction style with colonial influences. The second volume, constructed with metal roofing and a prefabricated wooden structure, leverages construction industrialization to eliminate the need for a construction site and minimize environmental impact. The placement was determined by two premises: the need for proximity to the water for boat access and the preservation of the dense, untouched Atlantic rainforest vegetation."
About Paraty's Bay
Paraty has over thirty islands and a very jagged coastline. The part of the coast next to the city merges regions with mangroves with regions of the Atlantic Forest. In the more remote parts, where there are no mangroves, the waters are usually very clear. Much of the bay has calm waters, except some beaches of Trinidad where the sea is more agitated, to the delight of surfers.
About Saco do Mamanguá
Saco do Mamanguá has eight kilometers long and one kilometer wide. It is an gulf – a part of the sea that enters to the continent. Surround by high mountains, in the end of the gulf there is the largest and best preserved mangrove of Ilha Grande’s bay.
